Resumo

As Olimpíadas de Tóquio abriram oficialmente em 23 de julho - um ano depois do planejado originalmente e em um estádio olímpico vazio de espectadores graças à pandemia do COVID-19.

Embora Tóquio não seja a primeira Olimpíada a ser remarcada ou cancelada – as Olimpíadas não aconteceram durante nenhuma das guerras mundiais, e as Olimpíadas de Antuérpia em 1920 foram um evento modesto – é a primeira a ser adiada apenas alguns meses antes da cerimônia de abertura.

E adiar e reorganizar um evento tão grande é caro.
